Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority
Steve has bachelor degrees in education (Queen’s University) and environmental studies (University of Waterloo), and memberships in the Ontario Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists and the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers Ontario.
Steve held progressively responsible roles in watershed management with conservation authorities, mostly at the Cataraqui Region (Kingston area), from technician to manager over two decades. Focus has including flood risk, land use planning, assessment studies, groundwater, water quality, soil erosion, habitat and recreation. Work involved providing advice and information to landowners, municipalities, community groups, consultants, colleagues, board members and the public, as well as facilitating teams/partners for stewardship action. During that time Steve participated on various advisory committees dealing with Great Lakes shoreline policy and regulation implementation, and local working groups with focus on wetlands and lakes.
For the last decade Steve has taken on the role of corporate manager, broadening his responsibilities to also direct the conservation lands and corporate services aspects of the conservation authority.
